Jump to the full entry & travel map Than Uyen, Vietnam The morning is beautiful, and the weather keeps that way all day long – what else can we ask for?! I’m kind of a dick today, first I dispute with Becky about something I don’t really have an idea (what was the reason for changing the phones numbering scheme in Australia), and it’s really stupid. Then I feel a little bit in “overpower” when I ask to make a detour to Tram Tau. The place is marked as a “scenic view” on the map, and it’s the only one which is close to our way (30 km one-way detour)

Jump to the full entry & travel map Vang Vieng, Viangchan, Lao Peoples Dem Rep Basically Vang Vieng is set up for the sole purpose of getting incredibly drunk on “buckets” – which are exactly what they say on the tin namely buckets of cocktail (usually whisky and mixer) – and tubing which entails floating down the river on a large inner tube whilst stopping off at all the bars for beer and free shots along the way. The bars all have some sort of rope swing or waterslide which was entertaining and rather dangerous.

Jump to the full entry & travel map Phu Yen, Vietnam I would never have guessed that but it proves that in Australia the “water situation” is way worse than what we have in Israel. They also don’t have rains lately and the water is being controlled. For example it’s a shame to say that you’ve spend more than 2 minutes in a bathtube.

Jump to the full entry & travel map Stanthorpe, Queensland, Australia My first job in Australia was picking raspberries on a farm in Stanthorpe, which is a small town in South Queensland, where in winter (now) there is a possibility of snow!!! I arrived on Tuesday night and put in a room with 3 other girls, Grace, Jenna and Amy. Then i was introduced to the other 6 people on the farm, 2 were in their camper van (Simon and Katherine, who were sacked because the farmer’s wife didn’t like them) and the other 4 (Paul, Leigh-Anne, Una and AJ) were sleeping on an old clapped out bus which was also our kitchen! I was warned about how strict the farmer and his wife were about people picking fast enough, and as it was piece work at $1 a punnet you had to pick fast to earn any money. My first day was OK and we worked the full day, from then it went down hill.

Jump to the full entry & travel map Chiang Rai, Thailand This morning we travelled north again to a town called Chiang Rai where we went to the Hill tribe museum run by the PDA (Population and community Development Association). At the museum we were shown a video of what to expect from the next three days of trekking and also told us about the hill tribe people and their cultures and also what we should and shouldn’t do while there, for example, me and women (including married couples) do not sleep in the same rooms
