Betsey Johnson knows how to design over-the-top accessories – and still make them totally wearable. Check out her “ Rockstar ” satchel – it’s trimmed with snakeskin embossed leather ruffles, and not just a couple of discreet little ruffles – lots of ruffles! I love the combination of the girly ruffles and the tough faux-snakeskin. Hey, if you’re going to carry a statement purse, you might as well have fun with it. The satchel is lined with a lace print fabric and has interior pockets with zippers.

I found these whimsical statement hair pieces that are handmade in Florence. Hair accessories are an extremely popular statement piece right now because they are affordable and expressive. These round pieces are wrapped in grosgrain ribbon and adorned with smooth buttons. They remind me of Japanese fans! There are a variety of different pieces to choose from at L’ape zoppa’s store on Etsy. You can choose between different sizes and colors. Here are some of my favorites: o11 Hair Comb $24 This is probably one of the smallest pieces, although it still makes a statement with a unique design and bright turqoise, purple, and teal. I have always loved Proenza Schouler’s clothing (their Target collection was my favorite of all of the feature designer collaborations!) and now we can love their sunglasses as well. Actually, no thanks – I’d prefer the “ Candy ” necklace from Ija Designs instead. The necklace is created using different candy-colored faceted semi-precious gems, with 14kt gold accents. Each necklace is hand-made to order, so each one is one of a kind. I also really like their “ Parisian ” necklace. It also uses faceted semi-precious gemstones, but these ones are smaller – but you get more of them: The necklace has three layers, all with 14kt gold chain and findings.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
Coach has a new line that debuted in July called Poppy . Poppy is intended as a budget-friendly line for Coach, with prices staying just slightly below what most Coach products would cost. The prices are barely lower, so I would say that the main difference between the two lines is the use of color. Just like the name suggests, the collection is full of bold saturated colors like fuschia, turquoise, purple, and orange.

I wasn’t aware that Wet Seal offered such cool plus-size offerings! I used to be afraid of cheaper plus-size jeans, because I thought they wouldn’t look good on me. My favorite pair of jeans are my Target skinnies (and have been for about two years), and I have to say that my $100+ jeans are never worn any more! Perhaps these Wet Seal jeans will be my new Xhilarations? I think I’ll try them out, and then let you know
