Money money money makes Vegas go round! – Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

Jump to the full entry & travel map Las Vegas, Nevada, United States We eventually made it as Vegas after a very long trip!!  After leaving our hotel in Hawaii, we had a 6 hour wait to get a one hour bus to the airport.  We then had a 5 hour flight to L.A.  We had already decided to go straight to Vegas, so we then had a 6 hour bus trip to get there.  We were glad to check into our room!  We seem to spend a long time looking into hotels, looking at reviews, then deciding which one we should choose, and it’s a hit or a miss really.  I have to say, this was definitely a hit!!  It was like a house!!  We decided to choose somewhere slightly off the strip, that wasn’t a casino as well.  We were situated at the south end of the strip and didn’t actually know that from the top to the bottom is actually 5 miles.  We did ALOT of walking!!  The heat in Vegas is so extreme, i think the highest was around 110 degrees, and is really stifling, even at night it is so hot. We spent alot of time wandering around the casino’s and just watching, i don’t think you even have to spend alot of money there!  You could just watch all the goings on!!  However, we decided to get in on a few games and th first night we won $120!!  we were so chuffed!!  Unfortunately, our luck didn’t last and we probably came out with less than we went with, but not much.  You really have to know your limits or you could spend a fortune!!  It’s probably a good thing that when we begin to lose we both get scunnered and give up!! The first few nights we stayed down the bottom of the strip only going as far as Ceasers Palace which is about halfway down.  It is amazing to see all the neon lights and quite surreal!  We were finding ourselves totally losing track of time during the nights in the casinos due to the absence of windows and clocks, and it would be 3am before you know it.  We thought that it was way to hot sit out by the pool during the day with our fair Scottish skin, so we made use of the hotels gym facilities.  Our hotel booking ended on the 3rd and we were going to head off but we were enjoying ourself so much we decided to stay an extra few days.  Well where better to spend Independence day than in Vegas??

Jewelry design – from sketch to reality

Whoever has been watching my sketchblog knows my sketchbook is filled with swirls, as is the case with any paper that comes into my hands when I’m bored. Last week I was sketching some logos for a company at work, and that wasn’t going very well – but I got an idea for something else, sketched it in a few minutes, ripped the piece of paper and put it in my bag.
