My Real-Life, Practical Daily Routine

(Photo of my popup paper dollhouse ) Recently I received an email from a reader with a question: “I was wondering what your daily routine looks like?” When I read that, my first thought was, “Yes, I wish I knew that too.” Small children can divert and change the best-laid plans. If I were to write my routine on poster board with a permanent marker, I’d have to tear it up as soon as I finished, because it would need to be different.

The Takeaway: What I Learned from Our No Spend Month

Photo by Adam Scheuermann I’ve been spending a few days reflecting on last month’s No Spending Challenge and thinking about how to carry some of those new habits forward. (Because why would I save money all month and then toss it at the end?) This was our third year to try this family challenge, and each year was definitely easier than the one before. The first year we learned the hard way that even something as small as $15 on dinner out made it difficult to meet a $40 weekly food budget.

My New site Southern Handmade Gifts is full of great handmade treasures and has been a complete process spanning over many years. I will not bore you with all my details of how it came for idea born out of the need to do something and feel useful to being an operating e-commerce site exclusively of handmade treasures made by ME.
