Wisdom Teeth Removal

Much thanks to Stephanie for stepping in last week while I was recovering from having my wisdom teeth yanked. Our third set of molars, nicknamed “wisdom teeth” since they generally surface between ages 17-25, were useful to our Stone Age ancestors who had wider jaws, coarser diets and rougher lives . These teeth helped them chew easier and helped ease the loss of other teeth during the course of their lives.

Help With Prescription Drug Costs

I remember picking up a prescription for my mother last year. The voice coming out of the speaker at the drive-through pharmacy said it would be “eight sixty three.” “Eight dollars?” I asked, because I was afraid that he might mean eight hundred and sixty three dollars

Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher appreciation week was technically last week, but it’s never too late to say “thank you !” In fact, I just sent an e-mail to my kids’ teachers just to say thanks and that we appreciate their hard work. I’ve heard that some Parent Teacher Associations even organize activities to help the kids show appreciation for their teachers. Everyone likes a little appreciation now and then

TV and Your Kids

I’ve often said that I wouldn’t be the person I am today without cable television. I felt bad for all the kids without Nickelodeon who didn’t get to watch The World of David the Gnome (the guy got to ride around on a fox named Swift! How cool is that?), or get so into episodes of Double Dare that they’d start running around the house with their sister, making up “physical challenges” for one another.
