In my everday cooking sage is really underutilized. The only dish I can think of with sage that I’ve prepared during the last couple of years is potato gnocchi . So this was indeed the most likely candidate for experimentation in this month’s TGRWT #21 .

TGRWT #21: Gnocchi with peanuts and sage
Wow that took some time to post something new! Haven’t felt so good lately and took a bit of a break, but now now I back again, at least I hope. Went to castle ” Middachten ” today an nice big estate with lots of victorian gardens surroundig it. Not everything is in full bloom yet so I guess I will be visiting this estate more, ..

I decided to do a couple of pieces that are somewhat ‘different’ from my norm. So I’m busy sketching out a bunch of little characters that I am going to upload and finish in Photo Shop. We’ll see how they do..

Illustration: Indian Ornament from Owen Jones The Grammar of Ornament 1856 Within Owen Jones 1856 book The Grammar of Ornament there are two distinct chapters dealing with the ornament of the sub-continent. Indian and Hindoo ornament are two chapters that deal with the same geographical area. The Hindoo chapter deals with what could be classed as largely native or indigenous decoration within India, even though this chapter contained colour plates that highlighted Burmese as well as Indian decoration

Illustration: Harry Napper Whitwood wallpaper design 1906 Harry Napper was a British designer in both the mediums of textile and wallpaper, who was particularly popular at the turn of the twentieth century. His work was much more European influenced than other British designers and he was therefore at the forefront of the Art Nouveau movement.

Illustration: Kazakh man on a horse with golden eagle 1910s The word yurt is said to have a number of definitions and meanings in the Kazakh language and culture, as it does across most of Central Asia. Living area, household, immediate family or even extended family as in kin are all importantly associated with the word yurt and it can be seen that this form of habitation was central to the culture and everyday life of nomadic Kazakhs for generations. Perhaps a more correct or direct spelling or pronunciation of the word would be zhurt , gher or uy though there are others.

Illustration: Brussels pillow lace There are so many different types and aspects of lace with the name Brussels placed in front of them that it would seem as if the Belgian capital had cornered the market in lace production. Belgian or Flemish lace was without doubt one of the premium centres of Europe for hand lace production and many towns in the area had their own proud tradition of lace making. One of the reasons for Belgium being so much a centre of lace production was the high quality of flax grown in the area, so much so that the annual flax harvest and linen production was jealously guarded.

Jump to the full entry & travel map Sydney, New South Wales, Australia Hey guys, were in Sydney!!! So we made it to ‘Spot x’ for the surf camp, and got stuck right into the buffet lunch before heading down to the beach for our free surf lesson. I ditched the group and got straight in and waited for the others to have their talk on the beach and join me in the water. The surf was pretty good and nearly everyone stood up after a few goes.

Jump to the full entry & travel map Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia After our brief respite from the world of backpacking in Brisbane, (which was wonderful) we were back on the trail, to the Japanese haven of Surfers Paradise! We travelled a few hours south on the bus, then we donned our newly bought Australia hats (Jen had the classic cork hat, whilst I had a wooly green and yellow one!) and rocked up to the Surf and Sun hostel. that evening was fairly eventful, as just outside of our hostel window the telegraph pole and wires caught fire! we were plunged into darkness for several hours, as they got a generator. Exciting eh?
