I am smitten with this highly inventive and entertaining animated film: Something Left, Something Taken . It was created by husband-and-wife team Max Poter and Ru Kuwahata of Tiny Inventions . What’s special about the short is how it blends so many types of animation — hand-drawn, stop motion, After Effects, and even some good old fashioned puppetry — all with a charming hand-made crafty feel.

For many people particularly for ladies hairs that are grown in unwanted places like faces and any other place which is much visible outside is very much embarrassing. Even though you could shave those places and avoid showing up the hairs, it could very easily be seen outside that you have waxed your face or wherever it is. What is the solution for these kinds of issues is the most common question many people would ask

I often think how much life is enhanced by public art. It’s not only a more colorful world but a more conscious one as well. Public art raises awareness and exposes a larger audience to new perspectives and ideas. And – heck – life is just more fun with art! The First Annual Art in the Open on the Schuylkill River June 9-12th was a perfect example of the integration of public and art.

[While I haven't seen this show in New York, I know the artist's work through her representation at local gallery Art Mûr in Montreal. She's a wonderful artist doing thoughtful work that both has contemporary and historic relevance; it's so great to see her getting attention in NYC] Recognizing the depth of her practice and the impact of her art, The Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in New York recently invited Nadia Myre (along with Alaskan Sonya Kelliher-Combs) to initiate Hide: Skin As Material and Metaphor , their current multi-show series. Scar Tissue, the first solo showing of Myre’s work in New York City, presents a retrospective of the Montreal-based artist’s powerful and evocative image-creations of the past five years (including The Scar Project , Landscape of Sorrow and Scarscapes ).

Illustration: John Henry Dearle Arras tapestry portiere 1910 John Henry Dearle is probably the best-known name associated with the Morris & Co company after that of William Morris himself and his lifelong friend and oftentimes creative companion Edward Burne-Jones. Dearle’s input into the company cannot be stressed enough. He worked himself up from the retail side and by the 1890s he had become, in all but name, the director of the business.

N. Raghavan , Rain V (2009) One reason I like zapping through artist’s pages instead of always looking carefuly at their artist’s statements and curator’s notes is that I don’t need to undo the damage of their own thoughts about their work. The latter often makes the experience of the work dull, as if our aesthetic wings were cut by the discursive blade.

Illustration: William Morris Jasmine 1872 The original artwork of William Morris can only begin to give us an idea as to the creative workings and indeed journey of both the man as an individual and as the designer of prodigious amounts of fabrics, tapestries, carpets, embroideries, and wallpapers. That nature and the portrayal of the natural world were central to the artistic core of the man is undoubted, as the few examples shown here of his original design and decorative work are made clearly abundant.
