Studies in French Impressionism

A featured lot in the upcoming auction on September 12th will be a work by Francois Gall titled Strolling Along the Seine . Gall was born in Transylvania in 1912 and studied art in Rome at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts working menial jobs to survive until he was awarded a scholarship from the Hungarian government in 1930. Admiring the first wave of French Impressionists, Gall quickly established himself in Paris and studied under Devambez at the National Academy of Fine Arts six years later.  Becoming a naturalized French citizen in 1942, the artist participated in various Salon exhibitions in Paris and became a favorite with the public.
